About CBI
Canadian Biogas Investments Inc. (CBI) is introducing Renergon International’s solid-state anaerobic digestion (RDS) technology to Canada. With exclusive licensing rights, CBI develops facilities that transform organic residues into renewable natural gas (RNG) and nutrient-rich digestate—creating measurable benefits for farmers, municipalities, investors, and communities.
Renewable Energy Source
Consistent and sustainable energy supply.
Reduced Emissions
Lower carbon footprint compared to fossil fuels.
Energy Independence
Enhances local energy security in remote areas of Canada.
Economic Growth
Stimulates job creation in the renewable energy sector.
Our Focuse
CBI bridges European innovation and Canadian opportunity. We combine proven international technology with local expertise to deliver projects that are reliable, efficient, and sustainable.
Exclusive Canadian Rights
We are the only company authorized to deploy Renergon’s patented RDS technology in Canada. This exclusivity ensures our partners gain first-mover advantage in a growing clean-energy market.
Proven in Europe, Ready for Canada
RDS plants operate successfully across Europe, demonstrating unmatched reliability, simplicity, and emission control. CBI brings this global experience to Canadian agriculture and municipalities.
Investor-Grade Projects
Our facilities are designed to meet the financial, regulatory, and operational standards demanded by Canadian investors and energy markets.
What We Do
Renewable Natural Gas (RNG)
We capture methane from organic waste and upgrade it into pipeline-quality RNG. This fuel displaces fossil natural gas and qualifies for carbon credits under federal and provincial programs.
Sustainable Agriculture
Our digestate improves soil fertility, structure, and water retention while reducing dependence on synthetic fertilizers. Farmers benefit from healthier crops and new income streams.
RDS
Solid-State Anaerobic Digestion Technology
RDS uses airtight, drive-in fermentation chambers made from acid-resistant concrete. Unlike traditional liquid digesters, the process requires minimal mechanical equipment and operates with high reliability
Key Advantages
-
Odor and emission reduction from fully enclosed processing.
-
Flexible feedstock use: manure, crop residues, municipal organics.
-
Digestate with a neutral, compost-like aroma.
-
Lower operating costs through simplified design.
RDS System
RDS System VS Liquid AD Technology
Low Labour and Operating Costs
RDS systems are designed with minimal mechanical complexity and no internal moving parts. This significantly reduces labour requirements for monitoring, repair, and maintenance compared to liquid anaerobic digesters. Operators benefit from lower OPEX, fewer breakdowns, and more predictable long-term performance.
No Biomass Pre-treatment
With RDS, feedstocks such as manure, crop residues, and organics can be loaded directly into the fermenter without costly shredding, pulping, or slurry preparation. This flexibility simplifies logistics, accommodates diverse biomass types, and reduces both capital and operating costs.
No Digestate Storage Ponds
Unlike liquid digestion systems that require large slurry storage lagoons, RDS produces a structured, stackable digestate with compost-like properties. This eliminates the need for large, odor-intensive ponds, reduces land use, and ensures easier downstream handling for agricultural application.
Low Water Consumption & Water Recycling
RDS operates with far lower water demand than liquid AD technologies. Recirculation of percolate liquid within the process allows for water reuse, conserving resources and minimizing wastewater discharge. This design reduces utility costs while ensuring compliance with environmental standards.
